Founded in 1945 in Rome, Italy, Brioni has grown to become one of the most respected and prestigious brands in the world. Originally named after the Brijuni islands, a popular vacation spot for the wealthy, Brioni is a must for any true sartorial aficionado.
The brand has been known for innovation and creativity in the craftsmanship and presentation of its pieces, all while staying true to its classic style of roman tailoring. In 1952 Brioni launched the first men’s runway show – an inventive way to showcase its new line, and to shine a spotlight historically reserved for female apparel on to the menswear world. This event took place in the Sala Bianca at Palazzo Pitti in Florence, where most argue the coveted term “Made in Italy” first came to fruition.
Shortly after this Brioni created the Trunk Show, an event that brings manufacturers to independent retailers to showcase new lines, fabrics and all other matters of the brand directly to customers. This event typically showcases a representative from the brand, and if the customers are fortunate enough, complimentary drinks and appetizers are provided by the host retailer. The Trunk Show has become a favorite for brands and customers alike, as it offers an intimate experience into the fashion house, and lets the sartorial gentleman flex his artistic creativity in drafting up Su Misura (made to measure) items with the representative.
Brioni is a brand deeply rooted in history and elegance, and it realizes the importance of staying true to its origins. In 1985 Brioni created the Scuola di Alta Sartoria in Penne, the sole tailoring high school in Italy. Admission into this iconic school is limited, as only sixteen individuals are selected every four years to attend. One cannot help but to draw images of Harvard or Yale, but for fine tailoring. It is here that the skills needed to create a true master tailor are passed down from generation to generation. This unique instructional style of having Brioni tailors directly teach the next round of eager pupils is what ensures the quality and uniqueness of a Brioni garment will persist for generations to come.
A meticulous attention to detail, the world’s finest and rarest materials, and an appreciation of menswear as a form of art is what has propelled Brioni into one of most coveted brands in the world. Its garments are often the choice of Heads of State, celebrities, and all others who appreciate the finer things in this life. The maker was often selected over tradition Savile Row tailors to suit James Bond, and is almost sure to be seen on the red carpet of any award show or high class event.
Brioni is a symbol of masterful Italian tailoring, and if you have not yet explored the brand I strongly urge you to do so. Perhaps it is in the fabrics, or the hand stitching of the items, but when wearing a Brioni garment you are sure to turn a head or two, and will find a new level of confidence in yourself that you hadn’t known existed. Here at C-Suite Attire we offer an abundant selection of Brioni items, from shirts, suits, shoes, ties and everything in between. Though this post has focused primarily on the understated elegance and refinement of Brioni garments, I would be remiss to not mention that Brioni knows how to add flare when flare is necessary. Pictured below are two neckties that we recently sold to a customer in Japan. Each one features real 24 karat gold and silk – literally a shining example of the ingenuity and undeniable quality that can be found at Brioni. So, are you interested yet?
